A fugitive bursts into the home of two Catholic
nuns. In an attempt to save his life, they hide him from the marauding
military patrols, despite the danger they face if they are caught.
KNOCKS AT MY DOOR brings to life the troubled recent history of
Latin America through its thrilling portrayal of this deadly encounter
between two nuns and the military police. When they are caught,
the nuns are forced to face the real-world consequences of their
religious beliefs. In the film’s gut-wrenching conclusion,
political action and moral resolve merge in a defiant act of courage.
“A tense political drama that poses
deep, unanswerable questions.”
– Stephen Holden, NEW YORK TIMES
“***1/2 Gripping, complex, beautifully
acted. A tightly wound drama.”
– John Hartle, SEATTLE TIMES
“***1/2 A political drama to rival
both Death and the Maiden and The Official Story. An emotionally
devastating work guaranteed to touch, stun and disturb.”
- Larry Worth, NEW YORK POST
